In 2019 I flew over to Scotland and spent 3 and a half months on my first solo bike tour, riding across Europe from Scotland to Croatia. It was an incredible adventure and one I am endlessly grateful I decided to do. But the truth is, it could have just as easily not have happened.
I had so many fears and hesitancies in the lead up to the trip. I had never travelled on my own before, never bike toured, never camped on my own or done wild camping of any kind. So much of it seemed super intimidating and totally new to me.
Which is why I wanted to share this video about the 3 things I wish I had known before heading out on my first solo bike tour.
In my experience solo bike touring wasn’t nearly as scary as I thought it would be. In fact, it was a ton of fun and I learned so much about myself and what I’m capable of.
