Heading out on an international bike tour can be the adventure of a lifetime. Although a big part of cycle touring is going with the flow and changing plans on the fly — preparing ahead of time can help ensure a more stress-free, safe and enjoyable trip.
In preparing for my next bike tour (to Turkey!) there have been a lot of things on my to-do list. So I thought I would create a video of the 21 things I’m doing to prepare for my upcoming international bike tour.
This list of course isn’t exhaustive — every bike tour and person is unique and doing your own research to prepare for your adventure is key. But I hope it gives you a little jumping off point in planning for your trip.
Since filming this video I thought of a few more things like ensuring my passport is up to date (it is!) and making a plan for my pet and plants back home. It just goes to show — the list can be pretty long and catching everything isn’t easy!
But before we know it, all the packing and planning will be behind us and we’ll be out on the open road spinning our wheels in the fresh air.
Wishing you wonderful, safe and joyful travels!
