Is it the Netherlands or is it Holland? What language do they speak there? What’s with all the windmills? If you’ve ever asked yourself any of these questions, I’ve got all the answers here for ya!
I didn’t know very much about the Netherlands before I went there. But after cycling around this beautiful country and meeting so many incredible people who live there, I quickly fell in love and learned so much that I’m excited to share with you in today’s video.
One of my biggest takeaways from my time in the Netherlands is that it truly is a cyclist’s paradise. There are bike lanes to get you absolutely anywhere you could possibly want to go. And it’s almost entirely flat so it’s unbelievably easy to cruise around. So long as you don’t get caught against a head wind! One sneaky tip I learned is that the wind tends to go from west to east. Not that you can do much about that if you’re already west-bound! But doesn’t hurt to know if you’re planning a trip.
Whether by bike, foot or car, I hope you have a chance to explore the Netherlands. It is a beautiful country full of rivers, canals, bridges, boats, windmills and a fascinating and rich history to explore!
I’d love to know — did you learn something new from this video? Or was this all old news to you? Let me know in the comments below! And feel free to share any of your favourite fun facts about the Netherlands you might know as well!
